Land before Time series

Ive seen like the first seven of them. While the first one is a masterpiece, among the rest it is only number 5 (the mysterious island) I like. The songs can be more than annoying even if there are a few that are actually good (Always There for example)

^ Thank you for bumping this thread. I had totally forgotten to look up who voiced Bron in the tenth movie. As I had thought, it was Kiefer Sutherland.

Well, maybe we can discuss the cut scenes from the original movie, as we started to in the thread on Bluth movies. In that thread, I posted some links to threads on an LBT forum with info on them, and now I'm posting them here:

I liked most of them, I'll be honest.

The first one OWNS MY HEART. That one is just... a masterpiece.

The next few sequels I didn't find bad, they were rather entertaining. The ones I didn't enjoy as much were the Tinysaurus ones and idk the snowy one, LOL. But it has been a while I should make time for a rewatch.

1-5 are good (1 is amazing). Ugh don't get me started on the TV series which I watched briefly some years ago (everyone knows Sharptooth in LBT 1 is the "biggest, baddest Sharptooth [T-Rex] around").

Oh, the TV series. I'm pretty tepid about that too. I totally agree, as does most of the LBT fandom, that Redclaw is an utter joke compared to Sharptooth (the one from the original movie, of course. He's often referred to just as "Sharptooth" with a capital S). Redclaw is the "biggest, baddest sharptooth around"? Really? MAYBE compared to Chomper. Don't even get me started on the abysmal animation quality that could've been easily outdone by my cat, the terrible songs that make even the worst songs from the sequels seem like masterpieces, or the often mediocre-at-best episode plots...

The main reasons why I kinda like the TV series are because I love Ruby, and I like that Chomper got a lot more of the limelight than he did in the movies, as he and Ducky are tied for being my second favorite LBT characters (I bet you can't guess who my #1 favorite LBT character is :P ). I also am glad that Universal FINALLY delivered on their promise to bring back Ali (I actually ship her with Littlefoot :pretty: ), although her appearance in the TV series was a total joke and was good for little more than introducing an annoying new character (Rhett) for people, including me, to have fun killing off in their LBT fanfictions. :grr2:

I adore the original Land Before Time, I watched it many times growing up and cried my eyes out every time.. :( I have seen two sequels many years ago, both of which I thought were lacking in quality and emotion compared to the original. Of the TV series, I have only watched a couple of episodes. Would you consider the sequels beyond nr 3 to be worth watching?

LBT 5: Mysterious Island is good for one scene where Littlefoot sings about missing his mother (I believe?)

HIPSTER ALERT!!!! I do find all of the sequels to be at least tolerable, and I think most of the LBT sequels are actually pretty good, but I definitely agree that few of them hold a candle to the original. As for what VM said, indeed Littlefoot does most likely sing about his mother in LBT 5. This is the song. Grab the nearest tissue box and clicky clicky.

Also, as I think I previously mentioned in this thread, I personally think LBT 10: The Great Longneck Migration is one of the better ones for Littlefoot meeting his long-lost father (who the Netflix synopsis for the original said was killed :P ) and then having to decide whether to stay in the Great Valley or abandon everything and everyone he's known and loved since the original movie and join his father's herd. After LBT 10 is when they really started to go downhill for me, with LBT 13: The Wisdom of Friends being by far the worst (LBT 14: The Journey of the Brave was a MAJOR improvement over Wisdom of Friends).

Another thing that makes me a hipster in the LBT fandom is the fact that I think LBT 6: The Secret of Saurus Rock is one of the better sequels (most people think it's not much better than Wisdom of Friends). I think my love for that one stems from my love of tribal mythology (I think that's also part of why I really love Balto 2: Wolf Quest, despite almost everyone else on the planet hating it).

LBT 4: The Journey Through the Mists is another pretty good one, because it has a pretty good plot, and it introduces a character named Ali with whom many people (including myself) ship Littlefoot. :pretty:
