Classic literature

Postby KingKovu44 » August 23rd, 2011, 4:51 am

Any classic literature fans here? I love classic literature and buy copies of them at the book store. My favorites are the stories of the Arabian Nights and Moby Dick.

I dislike a lot of classic literature for its neglect of the most important element of writing: storytelling.

Moby Dick is wonderful, though. ^^

I am ridiculously obsessed with The Great Gatsby (I just finished writing a 13 page paper on it), and As I Lay Dying. In general, I'm a huge classic lit fan!

Here's my list of favorite classic authors / writers and novels:

Jane Austen
H.P. Lovecraft
Charles Dickens
H.P. Wells
Jules Verne
Ernest Hemingway
Oscar Wilde
Edgar Allan Poe
Lewis Carroll
William Shakespeare
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte
'Wuthering Heights' by Emily Bronte
'Agnes Grey' by Anne Bronte
'Dracula' by Bram Stoker
'Frankenstein' by Mary Shelly
'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer' and 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' by Mark Twain
'The Scarlet Letter' by Nathaniel Hawthorne
'The Lord of the Rings' by J.R.R Tolkien
Sometimes I simply sit down and write because I cannot help it. Who knows, perhaps one day something will come out of it. Writing is the only thing that, when I do it, I don't feel I should be doing something else.
