I don't think Uncle Max really found his nephew..ehmm..pleasing. From that, he's basically the replacement of Timon's "was to be brought up" father. And there's no way he is anywhere as good as Timon.

Whereas, Timon's mother sees the best in her son, Max goes the opposite with his nephew.

Either way, he has his moments in TLK 3. He's paranoid, stubborn, and less down-to-earth than Timon is in my opinion.
Even more, Timon was already aware that there was no point in messing with this meerkat family member. So I gotta give him major credit for just playing along with his uncle. Which I think was the best thing to do in his case.

Timon: "Scream.., MOMMY!"



And yep. It didn't take me long at all to recognize that his voice is Jerry Stiller's.
