Kiara... is a very poorly thought out character. Firstly, her attitude as a cub is exactly that of Simba. But where Simba was actually strong enough to fight for himself and brave enough to defend Nala, Kiara is not brave or strong. I think the most I ever saw her do was save Kovu once as a cub, but lets be honest, those crocodiles were horrible at killing them. At least the hyenas had a drive to kill Simba. And while neither the hyenas nor the crocodiles were going to kill them due to that pretty much ending the movie, we can see a lot more potential in Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed. She then grows up into, everyone say it with me, the steriotypical princess that wants more. I despise this character. She is so overplayed, especially in terms of Disney. Even as a cub she can't help but flirt with Kovu... WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING HIM! OK, at least give the other Disney princesses some credit, they usually got to know the guy before falling head over heels. And something else I've noticed, everyone says she's kind and understanding. OK, why isn't she kind to Kovu after he saves her life until she finds out who he is? And why isn't she understanding when Simba sends Timon and Pumba to watch her and protect her? When she says "You will never be Mufasa," that is the most unkind, misunderstanding thing I've ever heard. Does she even know what Simba went through? She then proceeds to sing a song so contrived and forgettable and instantly say that she and Kovu have to go back... wait, what?! Didn't she just run away from her home? And the last thing that kills it for me, is why did she fight Zira? It wasn't really plot constructive and more or less felt like a waste of a climax. Why couldn't Kovu fight Zira? That would have been so much better. Kovu is the main character of this movie anyways, so why did all his training go to waste? My problem with Kiara is that she learns nothing. And I know exactly what you're thinking, "but she did learn something! she learned that they are one!" OK then, when did she ever express hatred toward the Outsiders. She snarled at Zira once... that's it. If anything, Simba is the one who learned something new, and he wasn't even the main focus of the movie. OK, well now I'm just nitpicking. My point is, Kiara is one of the most bland and uncreative characters I've ever seen in any Disney movie. If you like her, great. She just didn't do anything for me.
