just remember

the ducktales reboot has been on hiatus since december

big hero 6 has been on hiatus since november (in america, i hear they have been showing new eps in the uk)

by contrast tlg has gotten 8 new episodes this year so far.

Disney tv animation scheduling is just wierd. It would also be strange to announce the s4 of a show that hasn’t completed s2.

I thought the whole point of the weird schedule of 4 episodes in a week instead of over a month was so they could save the original time slot to re-air old episodes for extra $$$...

My guess is that, Disney pretty much has ruled over the world and has there hands full overflowing with other franchises, so maybe its because there is only so much they can do, they take it off the screens and start working on the next season and then they focus on other shows taking off at that time, then they come back to other one again, plus I am working hard on my Fb pages to throw out all the announcements I can so others will spread the word and share. I help in supporting the awareness of the latest updates as much as I can to help keep the popularity going, as they say one person can make a big difference, thats how I see it.

So, I saw this on the FB fanpage today:

And then down in the comments of that post someone was saying that Kevin Schon had supposedly confirmed that Season 3 is indeed the last one for this series. Of course, I couldn't find the quote from Schon himself (might be on some other social media platform that I don't have) so take this with a grain of salt, but there might be a reason for why one of the episode writers decided to post about the Season 3 finale table read.

I am facebook friends with Kevin so I asked him.

Will update when I get an update.

it does seem odd that if the show was ending that she would call it the season 3 finale and not the series finale.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but....I just got a response.

Season 3 will be the last season, according to him.

As for the series ending on a satisfying note, he doesn’t seem to know.

O.K. I am a grown Tiger I can handle this.

It is wishful thinking at this point, but is there a chance that the show could be rebranded and moved off of Disney Jr. That would still make Season 3 the last season of The Lion Guard, but the show could still continue. :?

I would think that the show has to have a satisfying conclusion otherwise I doubt the Kendall Haney would have felt moved enough to speak of her pride of having co-written the finale.

I also can't see the series coming to a close without proper closer (if there are no rebranding plans) They knew where they were starting this series, so they must have had at least some Idea of how they were going to end it.

As for what I hope to see if this is the last we see of The Lion Guard. I want a Flash Forward to see at least all the members of The Guard (and hopefully Rani as well) as adults.

If my greatest pipe dream regarding this series comes true. I hope we get some kind of hint (even if it is just something I have to read into). Toward the future movies I am hoping for.

If My greatest fear for the series were to happen (God forbid) at the very end Adult Kovu will wake up in the den and say.
What a weird dream. I was hardly in it.
Well come what may here is to hoping that the rest of season 2 continues to be as incredible as it has been, and Season 3 is the best one ever.

It's important to keep in mind that things can always change. However, the show's fate was tied to its merchandise and I just don't think the merchandise sold very well. You regularly see Paw Patrol stuff on Amazon's top toy lists, for example, but I've never seen a Lion Guard toy be in demand like that. The mini-magazines with the comics stopped getting issues a while back as well, which probably meant they didn't get much circulation. But yet again, Paw Patrol books sell like hotcakes.

I don't watch Paw Patrol. But I can't help but feel Disney's decision to make The Lion Guard a preschool cartoon was an attempt to eat away at that market. If they were just going to give the show three seasons and walk away, I'd have much rather preferred they make it a TV-Y7 cartoon for older kids.

I can only hope that, if this is the end, the crew knew well enough in advance to give the show an ending that provides some closure. But hey, if the CGI Lion King movie is a big hit, maybe The Lion Guard will get a second wind and they'll keep the gravy train going.

there’s another possible reason why. I don’t know if I should mention the specifics, it’s a very personal thing.

To each their own. But I will say that voice actors aren't typically told the reasons for a show being cancelled.

Well, it was just a guess of mine anyway. I doubt that Disney themselves will ever come forward with why the show only lasted three seasons.
I think another reason the show is getting dropped is because Disney wanted it to have an adult fanbase a la mlp.

but

In spite of its high ratings the show never seemed to have anywhere near the size of the adult fanbase mlp fim had. that show was lightning in a bottle, you can’t just make something similar and expect the results even if the ip is super popular.

Look at Justice League. It had DC’s holy trinity. Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Yet it tanked in comparison to a lot of modern comic flicks.

UPDATE

Apparently Kovu and Kiara put in substantial appearences in s3 according to what kevin just told me. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t supposed to tell me this but hell, he tells me a lot of things he’s probably not supposed to say. God I love that guy.
