This makes Zira even more barbaric, in that she didn't take Nuka's last words to heart and realize that she'd just thrown away Nuka's life in her quest to get vengeance on Simba.


Also, it shows that he doesn't really hate Kovu like Scar did (well, kinda, as we never found out how Scar's cubhood was and if Mufasa got all the attention) but it now seems that he made those remarks about Kovu and his dislike for him, NOT because Kovu was the Chosen One and he wans't, but because Zira spent all of her time on Kovu and blatantly neglected him.

In regards to this, I think he WOULD have gotten redemption like Vitani had he lived to the Final Battle.

Yeah, it makes Nuka feel more sympathetic and his death all the more tragic. I'm not sure why it was particularly cut, but I have read fans suggested that Disney didn't want to send the wrong message to kids.

i didn’t think nuka’s death to be all that tragic either way. Until bunga came along he was the worst character in the franchise.

The scene as it was would have had a far greater emotional impact, but I also believe that it was changed for the explanation TheLionPrince provided.

I'm afraid that there would have been no redemption for Nuka he was too driven to gain his mother's favor to ever turn on her. There was not enough love between Vitani and he to make Nuka switching sides a possibility. At most he would have begged Zira to retreat.
