I can only hope that Jon Favreau sees something in Beyonce cuz if she does act like that in the movie....yikes...I know it’s not fair to compare an impressionist to the real thing but still...

Well, it was certainly a big improvement over THAT. Not the greatest but it didn’t sound completely devoid of emotion.

I'll wait until there's an official confirmation from Disney, but it's unimaginable to have a remake of the film without the iconic songs. That said, hopefully, it won't be jarring to see realistically rendered animals break into song.

disney announced it with the release date in 19 june of 2019. is this movie going to have its own section here on mlk?

There is a good question if MLK will even be around by then. Keeping this site going is expensive, and it's doubtful that it will be financially worthwhile keeping the forums on life support in the vain hopes that the movie will spark more activity. Back in 2011, even with MLK far more active than now, people were already complaining about how "dead" it was, and were hoping that the 3D re-release of TLK would increase activity.

It did - for about two weeks. There was a small handful of members who joined then and stuck around, but the surge of activity following the 3D release was temporary, and hoping anything different with the "live action" remake sounds like wishful thinking to me.

Apparently the voicing and filming/animating process has already begun (https://screenrant.com/lion-king-jon-fa ... ld-glover/); Donald Glover is in the recording studio and Taika Waititi stopped by and was apparently quite impressed by what he saw. Has anyone here actually seen the footage from this summer?
