Mnyama looked around. Where could Gyasi be? Perhaps he had gotten stuck in a cave. Yes, that was possible... She poked her head inside one of the nearer dens, but was disappointed when there was nobody in it. She slumped her shoulders, her stomach still churning with anxiety and fear.

(Thy'll just realize he's gone after searching some more, then?)

Muroki was finding it quite difficult to keep up with the entire pride as they wondered around the remains of their home in search of Gyasi. The burns on his paws were the most irritating, of course, but the others weren't a welcome addition. At least, with Yegath to help him out, he didn't have to worry about falling. Plus, it was really nice to have the company as the two of them followed the others at his own, slower pace. Even if they didn't talk, he appreciated her being there with him and for him. She sure was a caring lioness, but he was too worried about the fact that more time was passing by with no sign of their leader to think about his feelings for her at the moment.

After a long while passed of searching and finding nothing, Mnyama gave up, accepting defeat. "We can't find him anywhere. I swear... we've looked everywhere and there's no sign of him..." Grief was evident in her expression. They had searched for quite a bit of time, and she was sure that they would have found a trace of his presence if he really had been there.

When the entire pride came to a halt after what seemed like forever, Muroki slowly lay down in order to finally rest his numb paws and legs. But he was too distressed in order to think about his own personal discomfort. The meaning of the lack of results of their search was quite clear to him...

His sister sat down next to him, looking exhausted (not mentally). They'd searched everywhere and there wasn't a trace of Gyasi. If he'd survived they would have found him or a trace of some sort already, but if they haven't... "What are we going go do now?" she asked quietly, her head lowered in grief.

Yegath, still by Muroki's side, shook her head, also grieving the evident loss of Gyasi. "I don't know..." she whispered.
Distressed clamor erupted from the pride, though it was also quiet and anxious. Murmurs of "Who will lead us now?" were picked up over and over again by Yegath's ears and she had to ask herself the same question. Muroki was the only male besides Gyasi, and now he was the only male.

[Should Gyasi have had a mate or something who could temporarily take over?]

(Surely he had a mate. I mean, in a real lion pride, the male [or 2] mate with all the lionesses. But I've never seen that carried out in any RP or piece of fanfiction before. Probably because it just doesn't go very well, maybe. Anyway, it wouldn't make sense for him to have not had a mate. So... Will she temporarily take charge, saying that Muroki should have time to recover?)

Muroki nuzzled his sister tenderly, doing his best to calm her down as she quivered ever so slightly next to him. It was moments later, upon hearing the pride question the subject of leadership, that he realized something he hadn't up until that point because he'd been grieving over the loss of his friend. He was the only other male in the pride, meaning that the answer was quite obvious... But him, a leader? The thought has never occurred to him before, even with Gyasi occasionally telling him stuff that were relevant to he subject...

"Where will we go?" asked Marini all of a sudden, causing her brother to snap out of his little trance. Because of all the shock and grief that accompanied Gyasi's death, even with them being right in the middle of the nothingness that was once their home, it never occurred to him that they didn't have a place to live at anymore.

So will Muroki be the leader after he's all healed?]

Yegath also seemed to be pondering that. "We'll have to find somewhere," she replied softly. Being a pride and not just a ragtag bunch of lions, they couldn't just wander around aimlessly for too long. "But... I don't know where..."

The lead lioness, meanwhile, was trying to keep a strong, firm expression, though she was grieving, as a mate would. "I will lead temporarily," she was telling the pride, trying not to let her voice waver. She paused. Muroki was a good lion. Could he, possibly, when she stepped down, lead the pride? Of course, he would have to have time to heal from his burns, but him being the only other male, they might not have much of a choice.

Muroki looked at Gyasi's mate as she briefly spoke to the pride, easily understanding the implication of her words. He was the only other lion in the pride but his burns made it difficult for him to so much as walk. It was clear that leading the pride would be extra difficult until he got better. Knowing that so many lionesses were going to look to him for guidance as quite unnerving but, at the same time, he felt like he owed this to his sister, Yegath, Mnyama, Gyasi and the rest of the pride.

"We should probably stop by the waterhole and drink a lot of water first..." he suggested. They couldn't stay there. Finding the time to properly grieve would have to wait, obviously. It was hard to not go aside, take a moment to himself or even weep over the loss, but there was no time for that yet, as horrible as that might sound. They needed to find a new home, fast.

"C'mon, then," the female- Karama - said gruffly, beckoning with her tail and leading the way. "Let's go then."

Yegath helped Muroki rise to his paws and supported him with her shoulder once more, slowly moving and nodding towards Marini and Mnyama to go ahead. She wished she could find herbs or something to help soothe Muroki's burns, but obviously, since the fire had basically ravaged the entire supply of healing plants and herbs that the pride had, she couldn't.

As Muroki stood up slowly he had no doubt about one thing. His burns were going to cause him to slow the entire pride down. He was the only one injured and they probably had no time to waste. For their 'leader' he was feeling like quite a burden... "Sorry I'm slowing you down..." he said quietly to Yegath as they walked. "I wish I could walk faster because I know we need to find a new place..."
