Winter's Wolf (Private ~ KK44)

Plot ~

A young musher called Thomas goes out for a practice with his huskies, and one of his dogs finds a female pup in the snow. Tom decides to take her in and nurse her back to health. He later finds that this pup is a wolf. As she grows up, Tom names her Shani and she becomes like a pet. However, all the other dogs her age bully her, even some dogs on the team that found her bully her. Only one doesn't and this dog is the one who found her, Max. He encourages to train as a sled dog and get on the team, to prove everyone wrong. But the leader of the bullies that bully her wants her to be his mate...

Thomas was excited about going out on a run with his team today. He pulled his sled from his shed and tied it down with an ice hook to prevent the dogs from running off without him. Following that, he got all of the harnesses and the gangline. After that, he took his team from its kennel and began putting their harnesses on. As he was doing that, one of the dogs, Max, began scratching around in the snow and calling for him. "What did you find, boy?" he asked. Thomas went over and began to move the snow around. He was shocked by what he found: a pup with fur as white as the snow itself.

The small bundle of fur wearily opened her icey blue eyes, she looked up at the human, and at the larger dog and whined slightly, feeling scared around them. Her parents were nowhere to be seen, and the pup felt too weak to stand up.

Thomas smiled at the little bundle of fur. "Come on, let's get you warm," he said. He then cuddled the pup under his coat to keep her warm until they got inside.

The pup quivered at his touch at first, but then found that the human was rather warm. She managed to shuffle slightly and stretch out her paws. She looked at all the other dogs, they seemed quite disappointed.

Thomas entered the house and passed the pup to some visiting female family members, instructing them to look after her until he returned from his practice run. Following that, he headed back out, hooked the dogs to the sled and stood on the sled runners. It was then that he released the snow hook and shouted mush. The dogs took off.

The family members cooed at the pup, remarking how cute she was. They then got a basket and placed a pillow in there. Thomas's cousin, Hayley, placed the pup gently inside, stroking it's ears and then leaving it by the fireplace to warm up. Thomas's little sister, Ronnie, wouldn't leave her alone, and insisted that her name be Shani. Hayley laughed at her little cousin,
"It's probably not staying you know".
"Oh well, Shani is a cute name". The funny thing was, the pup's name was Shani, she stood up in the basket and nuzzled the little girl, the girl squealed in delight. "See? She likes it". Hayley rolled her eyes and walked off, wondering whether the pup would still be on milk. She also thought that it didn't look like an ordinary dog, she sighed and waited for Thomas to get home.

A long time passed. Finally, Thomas was returning with his team. He pulled up in front of the house and stopped the team. He took the dogs off the gangline and took them into the shed to feed them. After they had eaten, he put them back in the kennel and went into the house to check on the new pup.

Shani was yipping happily as Ronnie tickled her belly, the pup had definitelty become more relaxed in the house. The only thing that was at the back of her mind was,
"Where did Mum and Dad go...". Then, she heard her stomach growl in hunger.

Thomas looked at the pup. "She looks hungry," he said. He then went and fetched a bowl of the stuff he fed to the sled team, made from rejected parts from the butcher shop.
