Leonidas continued his journey through the forest. By now, he could smell the deer. "It will be all too easy," he said.

"Of course." Jade replied to Loch. Devon smiled at his mom before shouting, "GO!" And running towards the tree.

Loch let out a snort, dipping his antlers respectfully to Devon's mother. He watched as Devon shot off; it took him a few moments to register the fact that he was already running, and when he finally did, Loch threw up his head and pounded after the fawn. Loch knew that stags were very quick, and the fawn's legs were rather short; but the little White-tail was surprisingly fast, and Loch was panting, surprise gleaming in his eyes. Quick little calf! Still, he was likely no match for the russet hued stag. Loch didn't want him to notice that he was slowing down, so he stuck around his side, sometimes allowing himself to slide back in the excuse of Devon's quickness. It brought immense joy to his heart, enjoying this and acting as if there was not a care in a world. Loch knew he'd never be really close to any of his fawns; males, perhaps a little, but not much in retrospect. Though now that things were changing, he could see a future of stags spending time with their fawns. It was unnatural, but the idea was not something that Loch now turned away from.

"You're fast!" Loch exclaimed, bucking his hind legs out in an exuberant display. It had not been so long since Loch himself was a intelligent, cunning little calf, not unlike this one.

(ooc: hey, TheLionQueen, d'ya want me to make a White-tail fawn for Devon to make friends with too? maybe tragedy could strike and he'd lose his friend...)

Devon looked up at Loch after making it to the tree, "Thanks." He replied. "I never really get to play much" He started "ma's a little over protective." He joked.
"I heard that!" Jade said she knew her sons young voice and could hear clearly would he had said. "Sorry mother." Devon fibbed before chuckling. "How did your antlers get so big?" The dark brown fawn asked couriously his light blue eyes gleaming slightly.

At the same time, Leonidas was getting closer to the deer. He could smell and hear them. He went into the bushes and began to wait.

Loch threw his head back indulgently in a laugh, poking the young fawn with a antler very gently. Snorting, he added, "My mother was overprotective as well, Devon. But, you know - when you look back, you'll realize how lucky you are to have Jade." Loch smiled at the calf before tilting his head in Jade's direction, a low grunt of amusement slipping from his lips as she scolded her son, rather playfully. At Devon's question, Loch stood there surprised. He had never been asked that question before, and now he realized that he really hadn't any idea how exactly to go about answering it. He himself was not sure of why his antlers grew as successfully as they did; he had seen some stags with no antlers at all, and plenty of stags with antlers far larger than his. In truth, his weren't awfully big - they were just about average for his age. When he was five, they'd probably be plentiful, very handsome, as others were. "Well," he began slowly, pawing the ground with a single hoof, "you'll have antlers like these one day, Devon...and probably bigger, too. They just grow like this naturally."

Loch did not sense the puma, nor how near it was to him. He simply dipped his antlers and snorted, talking casually with the fawn, unaware of any surrounding danger, though a deer's sense of danger is very great inded.

"Woah, I'll have antlers like that!" Devon said in amazement. Jade chuckled hearing her sons loud comment. "Silly boy." She said walking over to her sons side and nibbling at the scruffy fur on the top of his head. "Mom." He giggled before Jade walked a bit farther off to graze.

Siarra's head snapped up. "There's something wrong." She looked around nervously. "I don't know what, but..."

Leonidas smiled from his hiding spot. "Yes, I can sense your fear..." he thought.
