Historically incorrect but we don't care [Private]

Historically incorrect but we don't care [Private]

Postby Question » November 15th, 2011, 1:53 am

Down at Thompson's farm, it was a harsh winter. And Borya was busy carving wood, instead of doing anything useful for his family.

Peter, the eldest son (15) rubbed his eye sleepily, he hated the mornings as they were the coldest and the longest to get threw, he skipped school to work part time for his family, well mostly for his mother and little sister.

Evalina, the little sister was curled up next to her mother. There was only a few blankets and it was simply cheaper to curl next to the mother, (as Borya would roll on you she found out the hard way.)

-Maria-
Clyde, a young soilder hugged Maria, happily. They had been together for years and they had one child, a girl named Anya.

"Hey sweetie," Clyde called Maria. "I have to go to the army today..."

Olga stroked her fingers along Eva's soft hair, taking out any knots she came across. "Such a pretty girl." She commented, smiling. "You always will be, even during this dark and cold winter."

Maria slumped her shoulders, knowing that there was nothing she could say to make him stay. Without saying a word, she threw her arms around him into a tight hug. She wanted to be strong, but she knew that there was no way to stop the tears. "Please be safe," she murmured while looking into his eyes, for what she was uncertain of whether or not she'd ever look into them again.

Evalina's eyes shot open, she gave a small yawn as she rolled over on her back, the bed was indented from its occupants so she rolled closer to Olga. "Good morning Mama." She said cheerfully, she closed her eyes again, trying to snuggle back into the sleeping position she had been in.

Peter knocked on the door, "Ma, are you working today?" He asked. The boy had brunett hair and was handsom, unlike his father who was plain.

Anya frowned as she watched the scene, she was 17 now. Her birthday would be later today and little did she know her world would come crumbling down in a few short hours. "Dad," she cried and she wrapped her arms around her father, her dress laid limp against her body as today was not a cheerful day. Clyde held Maria in his arms as they started and reacted to his daughter by twirling the girls, "Oh ladies. I'll be back, I'ma fight off those germans good."

Clyde had a bit of a hic accent, but his sentence was clear. He wished the family good tidings and he sat Maria and Anya down. "I'll see you soon, dear," he leaned forward and kissed Anya's forehead, "baby." he leaned to the left to kiss Maria on the lips.

"Not that I know of, Peter. Why?" She looked to the door while being sure not to move unless needed so she didn't disturb Evalina.

Maria continued to hold on to Clyde and Anya for as long as the moment could last. "I trust your strength and courage," she managed to say in a soft and cracked voice while looking down.

"Dad's not going to work today, and we owe the land lord money by the end of the day." Peter informed Olga. Evalina sighed and got up, she'd help Peter on his errands.

And with that Clyde was gone, he marched out the door and fell in line with the soilders. Anya sat down, her hands in her lap. "He's...not comming back...is he?" She asked, her mind preparing for the worst news.

Olga rolled her eyes. "What else is new." She walked out with Evalina. "Where is Borya, anyway?" She began to collect the things she needed for the day while waiting for an answer.

Maria paused, but finally answered, "I don't know, sweetheart. I don't know." And it was true. There was always the chance that he could make it, but how big of a chance will it be? Her heart began to ache with anxiety and sorrow. Nonetheless, she needed to focus on her daughter. She could not let her down, and she needed to support Anya every step of the way.

"In the living room, carving." Peter said, he nudged Evalina towards the kitchen for breakfeast.

"I like daddy's carvings." Evalina quietly protested.

"Dad's carvings don't get us food." Peter replied dominately.

Anya sighed, "Well..I'll be in the woods. I'll be back before dawn." She told her mother. She leaned forward and kissed Maria's cheek and she started towards the door, picking up a coat on the way.

Olga followed, seeing Borya indeed in the living room. She leaned on the wall and folded her arms. "The least you could do is try to sell those for a change."

Maria looked back at her daughter leaving and said a simple "Alright". She went to sit on the beaten up sofa and zoned out, completely introverted in her own thoughts. She figured that she needed to think everything through before bothering to move on with any hope of success.

Borya held up his arms, "No one buys 'em." He hated it when Olga was like this, he just wanted to be left alone.

Anya screamed as she saw two men, they quickly moved and grabbed her hands and yanked her outside. They wore the soviet's suit.

"Then why don't you work on something that people DO pay you for?" She snapped, clearly annoyed. They were always like his, fighting endlessly. She knew it was bad for the kids, but she blamed him for it most of the time. "If you would help us out more and show some compassion, we wouldn't have to be like this!" She would always say.

Maria quickly snapped out of her daze and looked to see her daughter wrenched outside. She quickly got up and ran to the door. "Anya!"
