The large room was well lit, a large space left clear for the upcoming test, the infamous Mark of Mastery test was about to take place, as Eraqus looked forward to awarding his trainees the tile of Keyblade Master.

Eraqus was sat in the throne of the room, watching over the space, with Aqua, Ven and Terra standing, ready for battle just across it. He looked up at them. "Terra and Aqua, you two have been bough here to be tested for the Mark of Mastery..." He paused for a second, and then continued. "When the two of you are ready, please step forward, and the test will begin."

Master Xehanort was stood next to Eraqus, also watching over the events as Eraqus had requested his presence.

Terra turned to face Ven, "Ven, you wait here. Wish us luck?" He smiled to his long time friend. "Aqua, are you ready to start?" He asked.

The room was familiar, pale blue colliding with gold all along the walls. The sunlight streamed through the stained glass window, making the use of electric lighting almost unnecessary. Their intense training would soon be over.

Master Eraqus and Master Xehanort sat in two wooden thrones on the stage before them, and it was daunting to find oneself under the gaze of the two time-worn keyblade wielders. Aqua was nervous, of course. Everything she had been training for had lead to this moment. She listened carefully to her Master, and turned to her two friends.

Ven grinned at his two older friends. He knew they'd ace this test, and was just as excited about it himself. "You guys will do great, I know it!" He exlaimed, doing as he was instructed and stayed put, out of the way as to not interfere with the examination. He tried to look presentable and straightened up slightly.

Aqua chuckled at Ven's enthusiasm and nodded toward Terra, smiling. "Yes, I'm ready if you are." She presumed he was prepared for what was to come, but relented in moving toward their Master under the slight chance that he wasn't, and needed a little more time.

"Thanks Ven." Terra said to the shorter of the three, he tried to sound friendly, but the thought of the examination was holding back his tone slightly.
"Yeah. Lets become masters!" He said to Aqua enthusiastically and he started to walk to the centre of the room, his eyes fixated on Master Xehanort and Eraqus.

Master Xehanort awaited, he knew his moment to execute his plan was nigh, but he knew he had to be patient he would wait until the examination had begun before making his next move and instigating his plans.

Aqua nodded and followed Terra closely, her pointed boots making soft clicking noises with every step. Cerulean optics focused on the masters before them as she waited for Eraqus to begin the examination. Her excitement was building with every second that passed, and she refused to feel stressed over the situation any longer. She knew that they could do this.

Ven watched them curiously, waiting to see exactly what their exam would be like and how they would do. But they were both ready, he could tell. Hopefully he would be as prepared for his exam when the time came.

"Summon your keyblades and the test will begin." Eraqus said to the duo, clear but authoritativeness resounded in his voice.

Terra did as he was instructed, he held out his hand and made a half open fist, upon this his keyblade appeared in its usual vortex of light. The blade reflected Terra's preference of strength over speed and agility, it was slightly more thick and heavier than the average keyblade. He readied up in his defence pose and then awaited further instruction. Vision homed in on the master, but out of the corner of his eye he could see Aqua, and waited for her to draw her keyblade.
He was not phased by the upcoming test, he had trained and prepared for it for the longest time by this point, he was just wanting to pass and gain knowledge that legend had it was only granted to a master.

Aqua nodded, summoning the sleek metallic weapon in a flash of light moments after the other. Unlike Terra's Keyblade, Rainfell was short and powerful in magic rather than relying on reach and strength. She tightened her grip on the blade, focusing on her master. Determination shone in her eyes as she got into her usual defense pose aside Terra, ready for whatever was to be thrown at them.

Ven watched from the sidelines, wishing that he could be ready to take the test too, but he still had a long way to go. As the two summoned their keyblades he could barely contain himself, the exam was starting and soon his two best friends were going to become masters.

Eraqus was feeling very proud of his students at this point, but he couldn't let it show, there would be time enough for that later after all.
Keeping a serious expression etched on his face, he began instructing the two of them.
"This Mark of Mastery exam will consist of two rounds. The first will be based on how well you handle the keyblade when fighting off the darkness. For the 2nd round, the two of you will face each other in combat so we may observe while you demonstrate what you have learned."

Master Xehanort shifted his eyes to an above ledge, where Vanitas was watching over the events, well out of sight. Xehanort hoped that Vanitas would stick to the plan, he was to interfere with the exam by spawning orbs of dark energy into the room which would attack Terra, Aqua and Ven. Allowing for the two of them to make a getaway in secrecy among the confusion.
He reverted his attention to the keyblade wielders.


"Now, are there any questions, before we begin?" Eraqus continued.

Terra wanted to think of something to ask, be he could not. Everything had been explained clearly as far as he was aware. "No, master." he managed to reply, shaking his head.

After Eraqus had explained exactly what the exam would contain, she was sure she could handle it. After all, it was everything they had been taught. She remained calm, completely ready for the test to begin.

Vanitas observed the scene below him, his arms folded across his chest. It would be easy to deter the students, it was as simple as a flick of the wrist to bring forth the darkness, but for now he would bide his time until the examination was actually starting. Regardless of how annoyingly long it seemed to be taking through his eyes. And these keyblade wielders? Absolutely pathetic. Especially Ventus. What a mess, and he was to forge with that? Hmph, he was getting distracted. He turned his attention back to Eraqus, already bored with the mans voice.

Aqua shook her head, there was no need to ask further questions. They had been told everything they needed to know. "None, Master." She responded just after Terra.
