'Pretty well, I guess. Comfortable bed,' he added, nodding towards Rowen's parents. 'I kept hearing voices, though. Who was up?' Elijah asked expectantly, looking around the table. There was an eerie silence that followed, which was cut short by Rivera saying:

'Was it your imagination?' There was a hint of desperation in her voice.

'No,' he said slowly. 'It was quite loud. Came from right outside the door.'

Septimus frowns slightly and sighs awkwardly.

"I'll be back in a minute..." He states and changes back human behind the building.

"So...where do we go now?"

"Well...."

Rowen shifted a wide-eyed gaze from her lap to Elijah. "Female or male? Who or what were they talking about?" Try as she might she couldn't shift the cold chills or goosebumps from her fair skin.

'Female, I think,' Elijah said slowly, silently cursing himself for not going out to check who it was. He didn't know anyone aside from Eden well enough to recognise their voice in a dream-like state. 'But there was a deeper voice too.' He looked up, an anxious expression on his face. 'Should I have done something?'

Rowen shook her head. "No...you did the right thing, I suppose," she sighed thoughtfully then glanced out the window. What a bright day for sorrow and fear.

Elijah fell back into his chair, frowning. Now there was even more danger. Could the witches get into the house? Yes, apparently.

'Don't beat yourself up about it,' whispered Eden, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"Why didn't they kill anyone?" Rowen blurted out suddenly. When her parents gave her a curious look, she colored. "They visited Ramzy's brother's home and killed his fiancé. Why do you think they left us alone? Too many people?"
