Survivors - (Tsuki, Shadowfax and AmyMarie)

The hospital door burst open all of a sudden, sending a loud noise coursing through the empty corridors of the facility. Ashelin had no idea where she even was, all she knew was she needed to find some sort of supplies for the bullet wound in her arm. The woman was twenty four, had blond and red hair, greeny blue eyes and wore a black tank top, skin tight jeans, combat boots, bangles all over her left arm and the most noticeable thing, a gun holster on her left leg.

Her right arm was nearly scarlet due to the blood loss so she knew she needed to act quickly. Ash made her way into the facility, a piece of cloth being held over her mouth as she passed numerous dead bodies on the floor.

Two weeks ago a flu virus hit the United Kingdom and with it came death. Alot of death. About 99% of the human population had perished in that time. Ashelin had to endure the loss of her sister back then. She'd watched her die and there was nothing she could have done to save her. The uselessness she had felt that day had been overwhelming, but she was just doing all she could to survive now.

"A-Ash.. we shouldn't be in here" Came a voice from behind her.

Ash span round to see the young boy. He was about nine, had brown hair, brown eyes, wore a red hoodie and light blue jeans. He also had a backpack slung over his back aswell as a baseball cap on his head.

"Damn it... I told you not to follow me Sam" She snarled through the cloth.

The boy who was called Sam, covered his mouth with his hand and stubbornly followed Ash into the dark hospital. Some of the lights still worked, but many had been smashed or the bulbs had blown.

"But you're hurt.. And it's my fault" Sam said with a whimper.

"Don't cry. Crying is for the weak and solves nothing" Ash said, grimacing at the pain in her arm.

"But I want to help you...." Sam said, not backing down.

This time, Ash couldn't be bothered to argue. She shook her head with annoyance and proceeded on wards. After a few moments she came across a room which looked like an operating theater. Fortunately there were no dead bodies in here so she could take the bullet out easy enough.

Ashelin had managed to get on the wrong side of a gang when out in the town. They had been beating Sam up when Ash had intervened. She shot two of them and was left with a bullet in her own arm as the gang fled. They hadn't realized they'd hit her, but they'd shouted many curses and that they knew her face now aswell as how they'd have their revenge.

Ash let out a groan of pain as her arm throbbed uncomfortably. She needed to get this bullet out and fast.

(Sorry hun! I was so tired last night I could barely keep my eyes open.)

Gabriel sat warming himself by a fire he had made inside an abandoned doctors office. It had been a cold start to the day and despite the fact he was in a hoodie and had a fire going, he couldn't warm himself up. He nudged a mug closer to the fire which was filled with a home made broth. He had had to live as best he could over these past few months. He was hoping that this cold weather would kill off the virus. But he knew it may be futile. Heck if the cold weather didn't kill off the plague in 1345 then he doubted the cold weather would kill this one off.

Maybe it was a new plague. But there was no reason to not hope. The plague had killed thousands in 1345 and the human race had bounced back. True, he had not ventured out into the big wide world since this virus broke out and he had no idea how many were dead. But there was still always hope. But the humans he had come across had all had the virus and he had had to dispose of them, or as he put it "put them out of their misery". He had to remain safe. He knew things could be a lot worse for him if he caught the virus, what with the fungal infection which was growing in his lungs. He coughed and picked up the mug, blowing on it gently to cool it down before tasting it with his tongue. It wasn't much but it was food.

He was about to take a sip when he heard the doors to the accident and emergency bang open. He sighed in annoyance and placed his mug down. He stood up, stretched and grabbed a shot gun which was leaning against the wall. He had found this in one of the store cupboads and wasn't sure how it had got there. But it had come in handy. He loaded the gun and quietly crept down the corridor. He heard voices and frowned. They were coming from one of the operating rooms but it appeared that these intruders had entered from the adjacent corridor, in other words the one the patients use. There were two enterances to the theatre. The doctors way and the patients way. And seeing as these intruders had entered the other way, Gabriel could sneek up on them.

He peered through the window of the operating theatre. There was a girl sitting on the operating table with her back to him. He frowned. Was this a trap? He very quietly opened the door and crept towards the girl. He then pointed the gun at the back of her head.

"Don't move. State your name and business."

(As this is set in London, the hospital doesn't have to be too far away. It doesn't matter where it is haha, don't have to stay true to the city)

Hyde Park was an unusual place to call home, no matter what circumstances you were under. Perhaps the excuse of a virus sweeping the Earth and killing 99% of the population was one of the more acceptable ones. Rhian Kendrick and Edward Merridew had been living in the park for a week now; they could have broken into a hotel and got a room there, but they had two horses to tend too.

The couple were young, but most importantly, were happy. Even in this rather new, scary world. Their pasts were complicated, but they had battled through it and stuck together. Two weeks ago, they had been living on Edward’s cousin’s estate which was situated just outside of London. It was a luxurious place, something Edward was used too.

Rhian had never gotten used to luxury, even while she was staying with Edward’s parents during a time in her life she did not enjoy. The cousin’s estate was lovely though, and the horses they had travelled with were being tended too. When the virus broke out, neither of them could have predicted the viciousness of it and the fact it killed everyone they were in contact with. Both of them realised that they must be immune; they had no contracted it at all.

Edward decided that if people had survived, London would be the place to go. It was the capital; perhaps government was still running and the country could move on. The couple had no idea of the scale it all was. As they rode to London taking various supplies for themselves and their horses with them, it became obvious that they were among the small handful of survivors.

Now, in Hyde Park, they waited. They were not sure what they were waiting for. Maybe for the right people to come along to speak to. The couple were sat near the lake, keeping an eye on their tethered horses. Edward’s was a mare; Annabell. Rhian’s was a stallion by the name of Joey.
“No one has passed by, are you sure people will come?” Rhian asked after a while of silence.

“I’m sure. If anyone has any sense” Edward rolled over onto his stomach. The two had been laying in the grass. He admired her for a brief second. She was all he needed. After his family had turned on the both of them; he turned to her and she turned to him.
“Perhaps you are the only one with sense Eddie” she replied with a chuckle.
“Perhaps” he said with a sigh.

(Yeh, at the moment =3)

Ash looked at the bullet wound on her arm and grabbed a pair of pliers from the table. Sam winced as she did this, guessing what she was intending to do.

"Ash, you're not gonna-" Sam began, but Ash cut across the boy.

"Enough! I have to keep myself alive. If this bullet wound gets infected, I will die. I don't have time to baby you.. Go away if you don't like what I do" Ashelin snarled turning her attention to the bullet hole.

She grimaced as she touched the bleeding wound with her fingers. She took out a lighter and heated up the ends of the pliers so as to kill off any potential bacteria on the ends before looking at the pliers with dread. Five years military training had taught her how to survive, so she knew this was essential, though it didn't make doing it any easier.

After a few deep breaths she began to dig into the hole in her arm. She grit her teeth, groaned but never cried out in pain untill she had the bullet within the pliers. Once she had a good grip on it, she managed to pull the bullet free. That time she yelled out. Sam watched on in utter horror as Ashelin dislodged the bullet from her arm. More blood poured out, but Ash had pressure on the wound as soon as that happened.

"How did you learn that?" Sam said after a while, watching her closely.

"Basic survival" Ashelin replied, now tying a bandage around the wound.

Sam's face dropped soon however as a man he'd not seen before entered the room. He was even more teriffied when the man held a gun to Ash's head. Ash was a little suprised by this mans appearence, but slowly turned her head to see him standing there. He looked no more than a year older than herself and he was holding her at gun point. She smirked.

"Nice gun"

Ignoring the pain in her arm, Ashelin grabbed hold of the end of the gun and threw it up in the air so it was no longer pointing at the back of her head. With her weaker arm, she pulled her own handgun on him and pressed it against his stomach.

"Drop it"

Gabriel was surprised at the girls sudden speed and reflexes. Surely someone who could move like that couldn't have a virus. She was a tough one. And one that should probably be left alone. But as the girl pointed the gun at his stomach he looked at her skeptically before gazing over at the wound on her arm. He then frowned. A bullet wound? How did she survive that? He then looked back at her and dropped the gun.

"You need to clean that wound. It will get infected."

He nodded towards a sink behind her.

"There's clean towels there."

He then looked back at the gun.

"Not bad. But I think you should worry about yourself first rather than me."

Bored, Edward stood up and stretched him arms out in front of him. He offered a hand to Rhian and she took it, he pulled her up onto her feet as well. They looked out over the lake and into the distance. The buildings of London could be seen. There was a hospital not far away, shops were close by for supplies; the two had ridden through the streets before getting here, finding them easy to navigate through on the pavements. The roads had many black cabs and red buses ditched on them in some places.

"Let's go check on them eh?" Rhian suggested, motioning towards their pair of horses. Edward nodded and the two strolled over. The two horses swung their heads up from the grass they were munching on to greet their owners. Rhian placed a gentle hand on Joey's neck, stroking the oak brown coat softly. Edward had his hand on Annabell's dappled grey side, smoothing gently.

"They seem to like it here" Edward said, noticing how content they were.
"They'd probably like it better in a stable with a paddock somewhere" Rhian replied. She was concerned for their well being. That being said, horses had coped in the wild for thousands of years. Edward was constantly reassuring her they'd be okay as long as they were with them. Edward reached for a bag near them and fished out two apples. He gave the pair of horses one each before walking off, hand outstretched for Rhian to hold it. Rhian took it, and the two began walking around the lake, keeping a watchful but calm eye on their tent, supplies and horses.

(OMG I can't stop laughing this evening... Right.. serious post. Ashelin would not approve otherwise xD *Calms self down momentarily*)

Ash smirked, seeing she had the upper hand. Sam stood there as the two of them had a bit of a face off for a moment, but then the man said to clean her wound. That suprised Sam so he relaxed a little seeing the man was now calmer. He was even more relieved when he heard the gun fall to the floor.

Ash watched Gabriel closely. She was always suspicious of newcomers so kept her gun raised.

"I know what im doing. Who are you?" She asked the man.

"Ash..." Sam began.

"Shut up Sam" She snapped at the boy, turning back to the man.

There was a stubborn fire in her eyes and her expression was one of determination. She kept her eyes on him and was ready for any sudden moves. Her arm however felt like it was going totally numb, so she wasn't sure how much longer she'd be able to hold onto the gun herself. Still, she had to remain in a defensive stance or this man might attack.

(The whole horse thing sounds interesting.....I have something I can possibly do with them. *plots*. Shadow may see where I'm coming from. )

Gabriel raised an eyebrow at this girl's rash behaviour. She was a tough one. And not someone he intended to get on the wrong side. Though it was clear that the girl was worn out and the wound was taking it's toll. If she didn't treat it soon then she would deteriorate. He looked over at the younger boy and nodded his head in acknowledgement before looking back at the girl.

"Introductions later. You need to clean that wound. And surely you don't want that kid to see another death do you?"

(Fail Toast. Sorry.)

Ash never took her eyes off Gabriel. What he said was logical, but after dealing with gangs and raiders she couldn't be too careful. After all, it was a gang who put that bullet in her arm.

"The kid means nothing to me" Ashelin said stubbornly as she walked backwards and away from Gabriel towards the table to retrieve some anti-septic and some bandages.

The words hurt Sam, but he didn't cry this time. Instead he looked over at Gabriel curiously.

"How long have you been in here for?" Sam asked him.

Ash went to work with treating her wound and soon found that the anti-septic was luckily still in date. Instead of reading the instructions, she wiped away all the dry blood and applied some directly to the wound. As there was someone else present, she bit her lip to avoid yelling out as the wound stung like anything when she applied the treatment. Once the wound was clean, she began to banadage it, not taking her hawk like eyes off the new entrant.
