The Outlands are an area near the Pride Lands with a desert-like terrain, small cliffs, trees, lots of termite mounds, few plants, and seemingly no fauna.
It features in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride and it's midquel television series The Lion Guard.
Residents and Visitors
The Outsiders lived in an extremely large Termite Mound in the Outlands during The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, but left and rejoined the Pridelanders at the end of the film.
It is also home to two hyena clans; Jasiri's clan (who respect The Circle of Life) and Janja's clan (who disrespect The Circle of Life), a family of Jackals led by Reirei and a trio of Crocodiles led by Kiburi.
Kiara, a princess of the Pride Lands, visited the Outlands as a cub while she was exploring outside of Simba's established path. This visit resulted in her first encounter with an Outsider: Kovu. After realizing Kiara was missing, Simba and a small number of Pridelanders went into the Outlands to bring her back.
