The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar is a 2015 TV film that aired on Disney Channel on 22 November 2015. It serves as the pilot to the upcoming 2016 Disney Junior series The Lion Guard. It also serves as a midquel to the 1998 direct-to-video film The Lion King II: Simba's Pride.
The film focuses on Kion, the son and youngest son of Simba and Nala and the younger brother of Kiara who due to being second-born is made leader of The Lion Guard, a group who protect The Pride Lands and defend The Circle of Life.
