[hide]Physical attributes
Ed has a small head with large ears. His ears are thin and have a few bite marks on them. His eyes are always wide open (almost bulging) and crossed. He has a large tongue that often hangs out of his mouth, which regularly bares a crazy smile. To top it off, Ed has a few hairs sprouting from the top of his head.
Personality
Ed is a bit of a comic relief from the other minions of Scar and his diabolical plans. The other hyenas tease him all the time, but Ed just keeps laughing. He is known for his wild, maniacal laughter.
The Lion King

In The Lion King, Ed tags along with the other two hyenas in the trio, Shenzi and Banzai. When the hyenas first meet Simba and Nala in the Elephant Graveyard, Ed is the first to notice their escape.
Ed nodded frantically when asked if he knew Simba was Mufasa's son, a fact that the other two hyenas tried to hide when cornered by Mufasa. He also made a low, sinister laugh when the hyenas overhear Scar say that the hyenas were the real enemy.
The Lion King 1½
Along with Shenzi and Banzai, Ed appears in The Lion King 1½ in the beginning when the trio of hyenas attack Timon and at the end when Simba tries to retake the Pride Lands from Scar.

Trivia
- Ed is the only hyena with a name that does not have a meaning in Swahili.
- Although many believe Ed does not speak, in Be Prepared, he sings along near the end of the song when the trio sing "Yes, my teeth and ambitions are bared."[1]
